I totally agree with your point. I am glad that you wrote this piece, at least someone knows what they are talking about. This is very rare these days.

This is really good Leah and it's so true. The simplicity of what we are doing is too often overlooked. We market alcohol to young people! Pure and simple. It ain't rocket science. We used a borrowed expression once on our Sacre Bleu Facebook page that said "if I tell my Facebook friends about your brand it's not because I like your brand, but rather because I like my friends." I still go back and read it now and then. This post took me back to it.

[...] In the mid 1970’s, when US wine became an international contender on the wine scene, both wine producers and wine drinkers embraced their (well-deserved) status with evangelical enthusiasm. And as evangelicals do, they sought to prove that Americans could be just as knowledgeable, critical, and refined in taste as their European counterparts. And though I was not around for this incredible time, I believe this image and attitude is exactly what the US wine industry needed… [continue reading post>>>] [...]

Millennials are into giving back and is the reason we're seeing companies such as TOMS Shoes come into existence and "kill it" as socially conscious businesses.

One wine company that is reaching millennials along with the larger wine + charity demographic is ONEHOPE Wine. 50% of profits go to partner charities paired with each variety.
