Another tough love letter to the wine industry. I’m tough on you because I know you can do better.

Hi Leah,
Nice post. Great penmanship! LOL
Fortunately, there are a few examples of wineries doing more interesting stuff. We’ve been working with one of our clients (Don Sebastiani & Sons) on several initiatives that deviate from the norm. One such program is the Smoking Loon “Live Out Loud” music tour. Concert goers to Chastain Park in Atlanta, the Dave Matthews Caravan last week, and the upcoming Treasure Island Music Festival in October, have had/will have the opportunity to learn about and sample Smoking Loon wines while they enjoy the music.
We also did a social media event for their Clarksburg appellation wine, The Crusher. Simultaneously in four different markets across the country (Sacramento, Seattle, Chicago, and Trenton) we held the #CrushUp. A tweet up and live virtual tasting, the #Crushup attracted about 50 people in each location and roughly two dozen wine bloggers.
Both of these initiatives have been/are a major success for Don Sebastiani & Sons, but we’re really just getting started. We have more such programs planned for later this year and next.
Best,
Mike
